Things Astronomical

Why is it the bellicose New Atheists are obsessed with the silly notion a superficial knowledge of “Science” will eradicate Faith?

It betrays a very superficial knowledge of both Science and Faith.

As a science geek since as far back as I can remember, the very idea we can comprehend all this is a terrific example of hubris.  It reduced the Universe to something humans can understand.  How silly.

Here is a wonderful essay on the topic of AWE.

And then, there’s Psalm 19

The heavens are telling the glory of God;
    and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
    and night to night declares knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
    their voice is not heard;
yet their voice[a] goes out through all the earth,
    and their words to the end of the world.

The Universe is a really big place.

But it’s not bigger than God.
